New Concepts, Definitions, Illustrations and Translations: WE ARE RECEIVING SUBMISSIONS UNTIL DECEMBER 1st 2026
What words, concepts, and practices can help us name the other worlds that already exist—and those we are collectively bringing into being?
The Dictionary of Radical Alternatives, a project of the Global Tapestry of Alternatives (GTA), invites movements, communities, activists, artists, researchers, and collectives from around the world to help us continue building this living and pluriversal resource.
The Dictionary brings together concepts, practices, and worldviews emerging from concrete experiences of resistance, autonomy, care, commoning, and the construction of alternatives. We hope to cultivate a space where different ways of naming, knowing, doing, and inhabiting the world can encounter one another, enter into dialogue, and multiply.
How to contribute
There are four ways to contribute:
1. Suggest a new concept Do you know a word, practice, notion, or worldview connected to territorial struggles, social movements, or alternative ways of organizing and reproducing life that is not yet represented in the Dictionary?
2. Contribute a new definition Concepts can include multiple definitions and perspectives. We invite contributions grounded in concrete experiences, struggles, and practices, written in clear and accessible language.
3. Translate an existing definition We want the Dictionary to travel across linguistic boundaries. We particularly welcome translations between Spanish and English, although contributions in other languages are also encouraged.
4. Illustrate a concept We also invite artists, illustrators, and visual creators to imagine and visually represent concepts already included in the Dictionary.

The Dictionary is conceived as an open and continuously evolving project. We hope to keep expanding it through concepts and definitions emerging from different territories, languages, movements, and traditions of thought and action.
